MEPUC Approves Unitil’s Rate Change Effective April 1st 2024

Category: Uncategorized

On March 3, 2024, Unitil filed COG report and proposed rate change, effective 4/1/24.  Of note: (1) the “calculation replaces estimated costs and revenues with actuals” for 11/23 – 2/24, based on 2/21/24 NYMEX futures prices, resulting in “a projected overcollection of $2,553,909 or 6.86% of total projected gas costs”; (2) “Northern is increasing its winter season Cost of Gas Factor (‘CGF’) rates by $0.3735 per therm for all rate classes. Support for this decision is provided in the attached summary and tables”; and (3) “The impact of the April 1 change in CGF rates on the typical residential heating customer for the 2023-24 winter season will be an increase of $26.99 or 2.85 percent more over the six month winter period at the Company’s current CGF rate.”
