Staff Directed To Work With FirstEnergy On DOE Grid Application
The attorney examiner entry was filed directing Staff to work with FirstEnergy on a full application for FirstEnergy’s project SAGA, due to the U.S. DOE by April 17, 2024.
As background, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) took effect on November 15, 2021. As noted by the Attorney examiner the investment programs vary in their levels of funding, timelines, and recipient requirements.
In Ohio, to address the Grid Resilience Formula Grants, Governor Mike DeWine has designated the PUCO as the sole entity within Ohio that may apply for, receive, and administer grant awards under this program.
