Constellation NewEnergy February Billing Issue Impacts 740 Accounts
Proceeding for Community Choice Aggregation billing issue resolution.
On February 7, 2024 Constellation NewEnergy submitted billing issue reporting form reporting form.
This billing issue impacted 740 accounts and as a result of the coding issue, inbound and outbound cancels were not correctly processed for RG&E and NYSEG. For this reason, the utilities were not receiving credit for the accounts, resulting in inaccurate invoices for the impacted customers. Constellation NewEnergy plans to calculate value impact, implement the IT data repair once the root cause is identified, and perform a post-mortem review for potential process improvements.
As background, given the significant number of billing issues that have been reported by CCAs and suppliers at utilities, including Central Hudson, Con Edison, and NYSEG/RGE, this proceeding will provide a centralized location for raising CCA-related billing issues and hopefully achieving resolution.
