Community-Driven Community Solar Project Selection Update

The Illinois Commerce Commission approved 23 Community-Driven Community Solar (CDCS) Illinois Shines projects for REC contracts for Program Year 2023-2024. Of the 23 projects, 21 were selected in Group B (projects located in the PJM portion of Illinois) to support the development of 12.8 MW of new CDCS projects. Two were selected in Group A (projects located in the MISO portion of Illinois) to support 1.5 MW of new CDCS projects. While 23 projects were ICC approved, there were 26 projects that received capacity this Program Year.

The CDCS category within Illinois Shines includes projects up to 5 MW and focuses on providing tangible benefits to local communities. These benefits include community ownership, wealth-building, and active engagement from local members, nonprofits, or public entities.
