Battery Storage Bill Gets Approved by Virginia Governor

HB891 was approved by the Governor.

This bill becomes effective on July 1, 2026.

This bill as introduced would prohibit localities from requiring an additional special exception, such as a special use permit, conditional use permit, or similar approval, for a battery energy storage project on any parcel of land that has received a special exception for a solar facility.
