TLG Commodities Seeks ARES Certificate
On June 16, 2026 TLG Commodities filed a petition/application with the Illinois Commerce to get licensed as an Alternative Retail Electric Supplier (ARES) within the State of Illinois.
The application indicates that TLG will serve commercial and industrial customers in Illinois in the entire state. More specifically, TLG is applying for certification from the Commission to serve only nonresidential retail customers with maximum electrical demands of one megawatt or more in the entire state of Illinois.
Attachment E2 provides the resumes of Hunter Lee, John Grossarth, Wyatt Elbin, Richa Cook, and Charlie Sumner. Hunter Lee and Jon Grossarth are TLG’s officers, and Wyatt Elbin, Richa Cook, and Charlie Sumner are key TLG employees involved in management.
The application also identifies the following individuals in the company including Hunter Lee CEO, John Grossarth SVP of Strategy, Richa Cook VP of Market Operations, Charlie Sumner VP of Portfolio Management.
Per the application, TLG recently received its Electric Supply Provider registration in California (#1404) to act as a competitive supplier in the retail market for C&I customers. In addition, TLG has received its Market-Based Rate Authorization from FERC pursuant to Docket No. ER26-2027-000. TLG has one affiliate, Trafigura US Holdings, Inc. (“TUH”) through a minority equity stake over 10%. However, TUH does not provide competitive retail electric or gas service in Illinois or any other jurisdiction and therefore does not have any complaints.”
