ALJ Issues Order Re: Stipulation to be Filed in Utility Default Service
Separate application will be filed governing standard service offer and data centers
On July 21, 2026 an Ohio Public Utilities Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) issued an entry regarding an a stipulation that has been reached in AES Ohio’s multi-year electric reliability plan.
At the prehearing conference Counsel for Staff and AES Ohio expressed interest in filing testimony in support of the Stipulation while OCC Counsel was still evaluating its position and indicated the decision to do so was still under consideration. AES Counsel also indicated that Buckeye, who did not sign as a signatory or non-opposing party, would not oppose the Stipulation.
The ALJ directed that any party who intended to file testimony in support of the Stipulation should do so by the current filing deadline for Staff’s testimony under the original procedural schedule, which is July 28, 2026.
Rather than included data centers as part of the stipulation as previously proposed, the utility has indicated that it will file a separate application governing the interaction of the Standard Service Offer (SSO) and data centers.
