PSC Approves Utility’s Shovel Ready Incentive Program
On August 21, 2026 the New York PSC issued an order approving National Grid’s annual economic development grant program changes . This order updates the Shovel Ready Incentive Program to include Fast NY and POWER UP grant recipients, corrects the Renewable Energy and Economic Development Program’s matching requirement from 4:1 to 3:1, and replaces the outdated Empire Zone Rate with the Excelsior Jobs Program Rate in the Targeted Financial Assistance Program.
“On August 14, 2025, the Public Service Commission approved a Joint Proposal filed in the above-captioned proceedings. The Joint Proposal required Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation d/b/a National Grid (National Grid or the Company) to file with the Secretary to the Commission an economic development annual report, no later than March 31 each year, that will include a review of program activity and results for the previous calendar year, as well as results from the Company’s proposed economic development grant programs for the current calendar year. The Joint Proposal also allowed the Company to propose program adjustments in its annual report and provided for Department of Public Service staff (Staff) to review and approve minor adjustments to National Grid’s economic development grant programs. On March 30, 2026, National Grid filed its economic development grant program annual report which requested minor adjustments. Staff has reviewed National Grid’s request, and this letter serves to provide approval for the minor adjustments to the Economic Development Grant programs.”
On August 28, 2026 the utility filed the NMPC QTR2 2026 EAM Report.
