On October 8, 2026 the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) issued a press release announcing that it is holding four in-person public input hearings in mid-November to gather public comments regarding the application of NextEra Energy Transmission MidAtlantic Inc. (NextEra) for authority to operate as a public utility in order to provide electric transmission service in Greene and Fayette counties for the Pennsylvania portions of the proposed MidAtlantic Resiliency Link Project (MARL Project).

NextEra’s application for siting approval for the MARL project is the subject of a separate application proceeding that is stayed until this first application is decided.  The MARL Project, which in Pennsylvania is proposed to be sited and located in Greene and Fayette counties, has resulted in the filing of numerous comments, protests and petitions to intervene in the case from landowners and other concerned entities.
