Electric Metering Options Rulemaking Gets Extended to All Regulated Entities

On October 22, 2026 an Ohio PUC Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) issued an order expanding the review of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 4901:1-9 to include natural gas and water recognizing that the proposed record-retention requirements apply to all regulated public utilities and not only electric utilities (EUs). The ALJ also directed that the proposed amendments be served on regulated gas and water utilities, certified retail natural gas suppliers, and relevant industry associations. To allow additional stakeholder participation, the ALJ extended the reply comment deadline until November 18, 2026.

On October 22, 2026 an Ohio PUC ALJ also filed a case action form to change the industry code from electric (EL) to all utilities (AU).
