Staff Recommends Approval Of NextVolt Texas REP Application
As reported previously, on June 14, 2024, NextVolt Texas, LLC (NextVolt) filed an application for certification as an Option 1 retail electric provider (REP) to provide retail electric services throughout the entire state of Texas.
On December 19, 2024, the administrative law judge (ALJ) filed Order No. 9, directing the Staff (Staff) of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (Commission) to file a recommendation on final disposition by January 6,2024.

{***} “COMMISSION STAFF’ S RECOMMENDATION ON FINAL DISPOSITION
On June 14, 2024, NextVolt Texas, LLC (NextVolt) filed an application for certification as an Option 1 retail electric provider (REP) to provide retail electric services throughout the entire state of Texas under Public Utility Regulatory Act (PURA)1 § 39.352 and 16 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) § 25.107.2 On December 19, 2024, the administrative law judge (ALJ) filed Order No. 9, directing the Staff (Staff) of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (Commission) to file a recommendation on final disposition by January 6, 2024. Therefore, this pleading is timely filed.”{***}
RECOMMENDATION ON FINAL DISPOSITION
Staff has reviewed the supplemented application and, as detailed in the attached memoranda from Ethan Blanchard of the Rate Regulation Division and Josephine Gonzales of the Consumer Protection Division, recommends that NextVolt satisfies the requirements of PURA § 39.352 and 16 TAC § 25.107. Accordingly, Staff recommends that the supplemented application be approved.” {***}
