PUCO Resolves Two Retail Supplier Investigations, Suppliers To Rerate Customers And Contribute To Payment Assistance Charities
In a press release the “Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) announced that it has issued separate orders resolving two separate investigations into customer enrollments for Major Energy Services, LLC, and Eligo Energy OH, LLC. Both retail electricity and natural gas suppliers will credit impacted customers and make contributions to utility bill assistance charities.”
More specifically the Commission adopted two separate unanimous settlement agreements signed by PUCO staff, Ohio Consumers’ Counsel and the suppliers. Both suppliers offered retail electricity and natural gas supply to customers all across Ohio.
“Misleading and deceptive behavior by retail energy providers will not be tolerated in Ohio,” stated PUCO Chair Jenifer French.” “Consumers who believe they have been misled should contact the PUCO for assistance.”
Eligo Energy OH
Eligo will make a one-time donation of $300,000 to Dollar Energy Fund, credit impacted customers, and pay a civil forfeiture of $14,600 to the state of Ohio. The Commission ordered Eligo to contact impacted customers who enrolled with the company via telephone between May 2023 and March 2024 to offer credits equal to the difference they paid Eligo and what they would have paid their local utility. The company will also refund any customers charged an early termination fee during this time.
The PUCO notified Eligo on March 6, 2025, of apparent violations of numerous PUCO regulations related to the marketing, solicitation and enrollment of customers, including apparent altered recorded sales calls.
As previously reported, a settlement agreement resolving all issues in the case was filed by the PUCO staff, Eligo Energy OH and the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel on October 20, 2025.

Major Energy Services
Major Energy Services will make a one-time donation of $400,000 to Dollar Energy Fund and credit impacted customers. The Commission ordered Major Energy Services to credit impacted customers, and to present at an upcoming industry conference about potential fraud related to the use of vendors and marketing, with a specific focus on the alteration of sales calls.
The PUCO notified Major Energy Services on August 14, 2024, of apparent violations of numerous PUCO regulations related to the marketing, solicitation and enrollment of customers, including apparent altered recorded sales calls.
As reported previously, a settlement agreement resolving all issues in the case was filed by the PUCO staff, Major Energy Services and the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel on August 28, 2025.
