Update – Still Awaiting Final NY PSC Broker/Consultant Licensing Rules
As previously reported, there is an ongoing proceeding at the NYPSC regarding the establishment of broker /energy consultant application and annual filing requirements (among other things) under Case No. 23-M-0106. Unfortunately, however a final decision has not yet been issued yet.
23-01227 In the Matter of Registration for Energy Brokers and Energy Consultants – Use this docket number link to see if Broker/Consultant has registered with the NY PSC. As of to date, the Commission has not approved any Broker/Consultant registrations. The industry is awaiting final rule approval of overall rule governing brokers/consultants per the new law requiring broker consultants to become registered and approving final rules governing these entities. A final order when issued will also likely impact ESCOs and their respective reporting requirements.
