Proposed Allocation To REPs For Cost Of Broadcasting PUC Meetings
“PURA § 12.204 requires the Public Utility Commission (Commission) to make live Internet video of all public hearings and meetings publicly accessible without charge. The Commission is authorized to recover the costs of providing this service by imposing an assessment against the following entities:
- a public utility;
- a corporation described by PURA § 32.053;
- a retail electric provider that serves more than 250,000 customers; or
- a power generation company that owns more than 5,000 megawatts of installed capacity in this state.”
Accordingly, Texas PUC staff filed proposed REP cost allocations to cover cost of broadcasting online PUCT meetings for FY 2026
For those entities subject to the assessment, the specific assessment proposed by Staff is, “allocated among the group members based on the size of the company,” thus providing a relative size metric for such included companies
The attached draft order would require the enumerated entities to make payments in accordance with instructions issued by the executive director and delegates to the executive director all necessary authority to establish and oversee the assessment of the fees. Staff requests that the draft order be approved at the July 31, 2025, open meeting.
Per the memo and draft order, Staff’s recommended FY 2026 assessment to REPs are:
