Bill On Regulating Auto-Renewals Passes In The House In Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed House Bill 2557, which concerns contract auto-renewals.

While originally this bill would be of significant concern to retail suppliers, the House-passed version includes an amendment which exempts entities regulated by FERC or the PAPUC and retail electric and gas supply contracts.

The bill is awaiting action by the Senate, which may not come before the end of the legislative session; there is always the potential that the exemption for retail suppliers could be removed in the Senate which would trigger a conference committee.
