MEPUC Issued Order Approving Maine Natural Gas Rates

The Maine Public Utility Commission (MEPUC) issued an order approving Maine Natural Gas rate.
Among other things, the order:
- approves MNG’s: (i) “updated Lost and Unaccounted For Gas (LAUF) percentage 1.2% applicable to gas deliveries for customers taking transportation-only delivery service”; (ii) “2024 – 2025 monthly Demand Cost rate of $0.2927”; and (iii) “2023 – 2024 Reconciliation rate of $0.0902,” though “subject to a possible future adjustment as a result of the follow-on proceeding”;
- “approves MNG’s agreement with [OPA’s] proposal to adjust its imbalance cashout charges for Transportation Service customers to include variable transportation costs for all supply sources on a going-forward basis”;
- “rejects the OPA’s proposal to remove the row entitled “Cost of Gas Off System Sales (OSS)” from its annual CGA rate filing, Attachment A, Summary Tab, and will consider the appropriate pricing of these sales in a follow-on proceeding”; and
- “approves the OPA’s request for a follow-on proceeding to more fully examine the Company’s practices for resale of excess gas and make any necessary adjustments.”
Previously on August 27, 2024, MNG filed proposed “tariff sheets for the IPO demand cost of gas, IPO Gas cost reconciliation mechanism and allowance for losses” (8/27/24).
