PAPUC, Team Pennsylvania, and Shapiro Administration Partner on Pennsylvania Accelerated Transmission and Energy Redevelopment Study
In a press release, the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PA PUC) announce that the US Department of Energy (DOE) awarded the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC) a $2 million grant for the Pennsylvania Accelerated Transmission and Energy Redevelopment (PATER) Study.
“The PA PUC will partner with Team Pennsylvania, Governor Josh Shapiro’s Office of Public Policy, the Department of Community and Economic Development, the Department of Environmental Protection’s Energy Programs Office, and the Office of Consumer Advocate to study cost effective opportunities to make grid additions to power our growing economy.”
On the same day the Commission issued an order initiating a new docket to evaluate the Pennsylvania Accelerated Transmission and Energy Redevelopment (PATER) Study.
“The PATER Study is to be funded entirely with federal monies to be sub-awarded to the Commission from RTI International (RTI), the parent company of TechWerx, under the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Transmission Acceleration Grant (TAG). There is no federal cost share requirement. With this Order the Commission opens the above referenced Docket to administer the PATER Study under the direction and oversight of key Commission personnel listed in the terms of such an agreement.”
