Commission Seeking Applications For Membership In Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Workgroup

Governor Wes Moore has signed into law SB951/HB1028, 1 which establishes the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Workgroup. The Workgroup is required to (1) develop a framework for reliability and reporting standards for EV charging stations, (2) study and make recommendations regarding which government entities have responsibility for ensuring accountability regarding EV charging stations, and (3) make recommendations regarding adopting and implementing regulations that may encompass certain issues listed within the legislation.

In addition to the members detailed in the statute, the Commission is required to designate four representatives: 

  • two representatives of the public interest sector who are identified as non-government organization leaders in the electric vehicle industry in the State and consumers of electric vehicles, and 
  • two representatives of the private sector business partners who are identified as leaders in the electric vehicle industry in the State.

The Commission is seeking applications for these four positions. If you or your organization is interested in being designated as one of these four representatives, please provide the following information on or before May 23, 2024, to Benjamin Baker, benjamin.baker@maryland.gov

  1. Declaration of whether applying for public interest or private business sector member;
    2. Organization;
    3. Name;
    4. Email;
    5. Phone Number;
    6. Address;
    7. No more than one page explaining why you and/or your organization are best qualified to represent the sector selected;
    8. Your resume; and
    9. Confirmation that you are available for bi-weekly meetings starting June 1, 2024, through November 1, 2024, during business hours from 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday. Meetings may be 1 – 4 hours depending on the nature of the issues under discussion. Day of week, meeting lengths, and format will be determined once the whole team is assembled. Please also explain your general availability during a typical work week, Monday – Friday and time of day for meetings, and your availability for in-person vs. virtual meetings.
