EOE Files Letter to Powur PBC Regarding Improper Installation Of Photovoltaic System
From the Connecticut PURA Letter:
On January 16, 2024, the Connecticut Light and Power Company dba Eversource Energy (Eversource) filed a Notice of Non-Compliance regarding the installation of a Photovoltaic (PV) system in New Milford, CT, performed by Powur PBC, Inc. (Powur). The Notice explained that Powur had installed a PV system “hot,” had not used the electrician indicated in the New Milford Building Permit, had used an unlicensed electrician, and had performed work not permitted by the obtained Building Permit. Pursuant to the Authority’s Decisions in Docket No. 20-07-01 and 23-08-02, EOE must enforce the Authority’s program rules for solar installations and must inform the contractor in question if it finds a breach of program rules that it considers serious. EOE hereby informs Powur that it considers Powur’s actions in this instance to be serious breaches of the program rules. The incorrect installation of a PV system by an unlicensed contractor could seriously harm customers. If EOE finds that Powur has breached any other program rules, whether regarding installations or marketing, EOE will move to ban Powur from participating in the program either for a specified length of time or permanently.
