Gov Signs New Law Requiring Express Consent For Certain Residential Contract Renewals
A new law in Maine requires competitive electricity providers to get express consent for renewal of certain residential customer contracts, specifically those (1) that renew at fixed rates greater than those that would be offered to a new customer at the time of renewal; (2) that switch from fixed to variable rates; and (3) are for a term differing from that of the expiring contract.
