MD PSC Issues Limited Market-Wide Waiver For Permanent Community Solar Projects That Meet The Co-Location Requirements
The Maryland Public Service Commission issued an order issuing a limited market-wide waiver of COMAR 20.62.03.08A -Colocation for potential permanent community solar projects that meet the co-location requirements determined by staff for the limited purpose of applying for interconnection approval. The Commission anticipates a high volume of applicants as it transitions from the pilot program to a permanent program and finds that a limited waiver will help alleviate a possible bottleneck, enabling the program to further the state’s renewable energy goals and encourage solar development on preferred properties.
As background, on November 12, 2015, the Commission opened this rulemaking to establish new regulations regarding a three-year community solar pilot program. On February 16, 2017, the Commission issued a final order authorizing a 192 MW program.
