PUCO Authorizes Settlement Agreement For Northeast Ohio Natural Gas Rate Case
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) adopted an unopposed settlement agreement setting new rates for natural gas distribution service for Northeast Ohio Natural Gas.
On March 19, 2024, a settlement agreement was signed by Northeast Ohio Natural Gas, PUCO staff, and Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC). The settlement calls for the utility to increase its annual revenues for natural gas distribution service by approximately $2.4 million annually, compared to the $5.9 million sought in the company’s application, and set a rate of return of 7.64 percent. A residential customer using 10 thousand cubic feet of natural gas per month will experience an increase of $2.67 – $4.70 in their monthly bill.
Northeast Ohio Natural Gas will implement a capital expenditure program in which it can seek to recover its costs related to system improvements through 2027. Any amounts sought for cost recovery are subject to future PUCO approval and audit.
The utility will provide $15,000 in shareholder funding annually towards a low-income bill payment assistance program.
Northeast Ohio Natural Gas serves approximately 34,000 customers across Northeastern and Eastern Ohio.
