ALJ Issues Recommended Decision in Gas Utility’s Rate Case

Also recommends changes to POR rates

On October 6, 2026 an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) issued a recommended decision in Peoples Natural Gas’ base rate case, recommending among other things that the Pennsylvania PUC approve an annual revenue increase of approximately $105.4 million, effective December 26, 2026.

The ALJ also recommends restricting Peoples’ POR program for NGSs priced above default service, reducing the POR discount from 2.20% to approximately 1.93%, and approving Peoples’ merchant function charge, which would be approximately $0.1045/Mcf for residential customers and $0.0229/Mcf for commercial and industrial customers based on 7/1/26 gas costs.

The ALJ also recommends approving Peoples’ local production and competitive rate discount proposals and eliminating the weather normalization adjustment when new rates take effect.
