BG&E Provides Update On Non-AMI Net-Metering Capable Meters
From Letter:
[ *** ] In Commission Order No. 90948 issued on December 14, 2023, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (“BGE”) was directed to provide an update on finding a suitable replacement for net metering capable non-AMI meters every 90 days or until a replacement meter is found.
BGE provided its latest update on June 10, 2025. Since the last update several tests failed and have required troubleshooting and resolution. These failures are expected to have been due to the downstream impacts of recent BGE-wide head-end and integration platform changes, and the Company has been placing a high priority on retesting. Based on our current schedule, we expect to place orders this month. Based on the vendor’s lead times, this would push the first installations for small residential customers to Q4 of 2025, and to Q1 of 2026 for commercial configurations.
BGE will provide another update on this subject when it has approved a non-AMI net-metering capable meter for installation, or in 90 days, whichever comes sooner.
