The New York Energy Storage Roadmap, released as part of Gov. Cuomo’s announcement, identifies approximately 60MW of advanced energy storage capacity already deployed in the state, with another 500MWs’ worth of projects in the pipeline.

Comments on NYSERDA’s Residential Retail Energy Storage Program Implementation Plan are due by November 18, 2024.
On October 18, 2024, Con Edison filed its proposal related to Rider Q of the energy storage deployment program directives. Option A –customer choose contract demand, Option B – locational variant daily as-used demand pricing, and Option C – an export pilot credit. Currently, Con Edison provides service under Rider Q to 7 customers.
On October 18, 2024, NYSERDA filed its bulk energy storage implementation plan proposal. Among other things this plan outlines the structure of the program, with a focus on the index storage credit incentive mechanism. Subsequent sections cover program funding, program administration, and program evaluation and reporting. Additionally, a bulk energy storage form agreement between NYSERDA and the load serving entities is included as an Appendix.
On October 18, 2024,NYPSC on 10/16/24 until 10/29/24 to file the energy storage deployment program directives granted the Joint Utilities extension request.
Previously on October 16, 2024 the Joint Utilities filed an extension request until October 29, 2024 for the study on the nonmarket transmission and distribution services that energy storage can provide and file the results in a report.
