Commission Files Notice Convening A Public Conference And Request For Comments In House Bill 1296 Offshore Wind Study

House Bill 1296-Chapter 431- of 2024 requires the Commission to develop a plan, along with the assistance of the Department of General Services, the Maryland Energy Administration, and other interested state units, for achieving the State’s goal of 8,500 MW of offshore wind energy capacity by 2031. Specifically, the study is required to include a schedule of offshore wind procurements and proposed amounts through 2031 and recommendations on multijurisdictional and other procurement issues. 

The state agencies are interested in receiving feedback and input from the industry on potential recommendations to the General Assembly. Accordingly, the Commission initiates Public Conference 63 (“PC 63”) for the use of collecting data for the study and to house related filings and documents, and hereby requests comments from interested parties addressing the attached questions. Interested stakeholders are requested to provide comments by August 5, 2024, on the questions included in this notice and any other information relevant to this matter Comments must be e-Filed using the Commission’s e-File system,1 include “PC 63” in the subject line, and be addressed to Andrew S.
