New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) Commissioner Marian Abdou announced she will step down from her position as Commissioner effective August 1, 2025.

Commissioner Abdou was appointed by Governor Murphy as a Commissioner of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and confirmed by the New Jersey Senate in May 2023 to fill a holdover seat and completed the remainder of the term, which ended in October 2024.

“The Board is losing a thoughtful and discerning Commissioner who put the residents of New Jersey at the forefront of every question and every decision she made while at the NJBPU. New Jersey is a better place because of her public service.” said Christine Guhl-Sadovy, President, NJBPU. “I am deeply grateful for Marian’s expertise, dedication, and support over the last two years and will miss her dearly. I wish her and her family the absolute best.”

Prior to her nomination, Commissioner Abdou served as managing senior counsel at NRG Energy where she provided legal support to the asset management group, the energy services group, and the business development group.
