In Docket No. 20-M-0082 (Strategic Use of Energy Related Data), comments were filed on NYSERDA and E Source Companies LLC’s proposed user agreements which address data quality and integrity standards, cybersecurity, privacy, and other requirements.
On September 30, , 2024, in Docket No. 21-M-0541 (Comprehensive Management and Operations Audit of Central Hudson), Central Hudson filed its Implementation Plan Quarterly Update.
On September 5, , 2024,in Matter No. 24-01797 (Joint Utilities Petition for Permanent Waiver of Order Requirements Regarding Environmental Disclosure Labels), NRG Energy, Inc. filed a letter in support of the Joint Utilities’ Petition requesting a permanent waiver of requirements regarding EDLs.
NYSEG is opposing Assemblyman Burke’s proposal for Erie County and local towns to transition to a municipal power company. NYSEG says moving to municipal power would be the wrong choice and would result in higher bills. NYSEG also indicated that unions would be against government-controlled power.
National Grid reported that it has installed over 334,000 smart meters which offer real-time readouts of gas and electric use. Customers can opt out of the new meters which will cost an extra $11.64 per month for a gas or electric meter or $17.71 for a combined gas and electric device. Less than 1% of the company’s customers have opted out.
National Grid President Rudy Wynter is leaving the company after over three decades. Wynter said the state is on the right path to reduce emissions, even as growing electricity demand raises concerns. Sally Librera, currently a senior vice president at AECOM, will take over the role Wynter held for the past three years.
