The new law as enrolled is aimed at encouraging developers of small modular nuclear reactors and other advanced nuclear energy projects to invest in Ohio.  

The law became effective March 20, 2025

As is noted by the non-partisan legislative analysis of the bill provided by Ohio legislative staff, “green energy” is not a term used in state law and therefore the actual impact of this legislation is unclear.
