Following Approval Of Gas Utility’s Rate Case – Senators Skoufis, Mayer Call for Overhaul Of Failed Public Service Commission

Category: New York

Following the “Public Service Commission’s (PSC) most recent approval of astronomical increases in electric and gas rates for the next three years for Orange & Rockland (O&R) ratepayers, including a 10.9% gas bill increase next year, Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) and Senator Shelley Mayer (D-Westchester) joined colleagues in calling for an immediate overhaul of the embattled commission. The push follows a March 20, 2025 announcement in which the PSC – once again – patted itself on the back from agreeing to O&R delivery rates that are “much less than initially requested.”

Both senators stated that the NYPSC continues to disregard ratepayers and has an “inability to stop predatory increases.”
