Four Distributed Energy Resource Providers Lose Ability To Do Business In State For Failing To Abide By Rules
In a press release the New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) revoked the ability of four Distributed Energy Resource (DER) suppliers to do business in New York State after the companies violated the Commission’s Uniform Business Practices for Distributed Energy Resource Suppliers (UBP-DERS).
The identified DER providers failed to file required annual compliance filing. The DER companies are County Solar Solutions Inc., Smart Home Energy Source, F.I Electrical Corp. and Elite Design and Construction.
“DERs are an essential resource that will help the state achieve its energy and policy goals. But every distributed energy resource provider in New York must comply with all applicable orders from this Commission to maintain eligibility to operate in New York,” said Commission Chair Rory M. Christian. “If the companies fail to comply, we will take swift action to revoke their ability to do business in New York State or penalize them financially.”
As reported previously on July 22, 2025, he Commission issued separate orders against the following DERs for failure to comply with the Commission’s BPU rules and more specifically for failing to file the required annual compliance filings. See separate orders issued for each DER provider as to why the Commission should comply by filing required report or in the alternative why the Commission should not revoke its registration to do business within the State of New York.
