As background SB6 established several large load PURA related provisions including an authorization for the PUC to require Large Loads that co-locate with existing Generation Resources to reduce consumption during certain events (section 39.169); an authorization for ERCOT to require Large Loads with backup generation serving at least 50% of their load to curtail their grid consumption when necessary to mitigate actual or potential EEA conditions (section 37.0561(e)); and a requirement for the PUC to establish a large load demand management service (section 39.170).
“This operations-focused workshop addresses how ERCOT is proposing to implement the curtailment requirements associated with net metering projects (section 39.169) and backup generation (section 37.0561(e)),” ERCOT said
ERCOT will present the proposed deployment mechanics for Large Load curtailment (including the Large Load Curtailment Manager (LLCM)), the proposed registration requirements and process, and the draft revision requests (NPRR, NOGRR, and PGRR) that implement these concepts.
ERCOT is seeking stakeholder input on implementation considerations and key design choices ahead of the formal filing of the revision requests.
