PSC Files Report On Colocation Of Data Centers With Legislature
The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) filed a report required by SB1 with the legislature. The report examines the issues related to colocation of data centers at large generation plants, like nuclear reactors. The MD PSC recommend the legislature clarify that a data center cannot completely isolate from the grid and should be treated as a retail electric customer subject to the jurisdiction of the MD PSC. The report further recommended that provisions should be made to ensure data centers and similar customers are not excluded from supporting universal service programs.
