MD New Electric/Gas Broker/Supplier/Salesperson/Vendor Training & Customer Identification Requirements
The Maryland Staff issued an email informing entities of supplier training and training and educational program, customer choice identification and other related SB 1 matters. Entities were directed to provide a response to questions by January 10th related to the following SB1 requirements:
- A designated representative of each licensed electricity supplier or gas supplier, energy vendor, or energy salesperson must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Commission’s regulations and pass an examination. Parties are specifically asked to please provide feedback regarding which specific representative(s) of a licensed supplier entity should be required to take the supplier test on behalf of the licensed entity. See: Md. Public Utilities Code Ann. § 7-311.
- An electric company and a residential electricity supplier, or gas company and a gas supplier that supplies gas to residential retail gas customers must establish a mechanism for a customer whose account number or customer choice identification number has been compromised must be able to receive a replacement account number or customer choice identification number on request. Please provide suggestions to accomplish this task. See: Md. Public Utilities Code Ann. § 7-510(e)(2), and § 7-604.2(c)
