Michigan Renewable Energy Enabling Act Bill Passes

This newly signed law amends MCL 460.1001-460.1211 to include provisions that (1) require that costs and savings from renewable energy, clean energy, and energy waste reduction programs are included in the determination of rates and (2) require that certain wind and solar energy facilities and energy storage facilities receive authorization before their construction.
This bill passed both chambers on November 8, 2023, and was subsequently signed by Gov. Whitmer.
