President Trump has  nominated David LaCerte to a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) seat vacated by former FERC chairman Willie Phillips, a Democratic commissioner who resigned at the White House’s request. 

If confirmed by the Senate, LaCerte will serve out the remaining 11 months of Phillips’ term which expires at the end of June 2026. LaCerte is an attorney and former state government official in Louisiana and Trump advisor, with no specific experience in energy.
