Protest Filed At FERC Against Proposed Large Supplier Merger

The Maryland Office of People’s Counsel filed a protest against the proposed merger of the wholesale generation and retail suppliers Calpine and Constellation, at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

OPC claimed, “[t]he merger would adversely affect competition in the regional generation markets operated by PJM Interconnection, LLC, impacting wholesale energy prices to the detriment of Maryland’s residential utility customers”
