PSC Grants Brief Extension to Respond to Show Cause Order for Allege Violation of UBP
On October 14, 2026 the New York PSC granted Star Light and Power’s request for an extension until October 26, 2026, to respond to the order to show cause.
This show cause proceeding directs Star Light and Power to explain why its eligibility to operate as an ESCO in New York should not be revoked or why other consequences should not be imposed for alleged violations of the Uniform Business Practices (UBP) and the NYPSC’s low-income order.
Among other things, Staff alleges that Star Light and Power had apparent operational ties to the previously revoked ESCO SunSea Energy, enrolled customers without authorization, potentially relied on former SunSea customer information, failed to follow customer protection and EDI requirements, and failed to de-enroll certain low-income customers.
