PUC Approves Sale of Gas Utility to National Fuel Gas
In a finding and order issued by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on June 24, 2026, the Commission approved the sale of Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, LLC, to National Fuel Gas Company.
Commission findings with conditions include:
“[T]he Commission finds that the transaction, as presented in the Notice and subject to the conditions adopted in this Finding and Order, is not unreasonable.
“The Commission will adopt Staff’s recommendation that the shareholders of CenterPoint consider shareholder-funded bill credits to support affordability for VEDO’s customers.”
“[T]he Commission declines to revise Staff’s transition-cost recommendation to refer only to transaction costs and declines to narrow Staff’s recommended conditions regarding cross default provisions and secured intercompany debt transactions. To the extent VEDO or NFGC later believes that relief from a condition is warranted, they may seek appropriate Commission authorization.”
“The Commission further notes that VEDO and NFGC state in their reply comments that they are not seeking approval in this proceeding for any changes to VEDO’s tariffed Energy Choice Program provisions. The Commission therefore declines to adopt IGS’s proposed condition in this proceeding.”
