PUC Issues Order On Utility Productivity Improvement Working Group
The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia issued an Order regarding participation in the Productivity Improvement Working Group (“PIWG”). The Order waives the limitation on participants and grants the Department of Energy and Environment’s (“DOEE”) participation in the next two quarterly meetings. The Order also directs staff to issue a Notice of Rulemaking within the next fifteen (15) days that seeks public comment on making DOEE a permanent member.
Initially the purpose of the PIWG was to review Pepco’s productivity improvement program and recommend changes to the Commission. The focus was on Pepco’s generation of power. When Pepco divested its generation assets, the focus shifted to distribution. The PIWG’s quarterly meetings review Pepco’s electric quality of service standards and manhole events and discuss load-driven distribution construction projects.
