PUC Seeks Comments On Minimum Gas Service Standards
The Public Utility Commission of Ohio (PUCO) issued an order directing parties to file comments and reply comments on the five-year review of the minimum gas service standards.
The proposed revised gas rule may be of interest to suppliers and aggregators because the utilities may seek reimbursement from retail natural gas suppliers or governmental aggregators for costs incurred due to unauthorized customer switches. If PUCO staff determines that a customer’s regulated or competitive natural gas service was switched without proper authorization and the utility was not at fault the utility may recover incremental costs from the party responsible including submitting an itemized list of expenses, such as switching fees, related to correcting the improper switch.
Interested parties must file comments regarding the five-year review of the minimum gas service standards by September 6, 2025, and reply comments by September 20, 2025.
