PUCO Approves CenterPoint’s SOS Auction Results Beginning April 1, 2025
Excerpts from the Ohio Commission’s Finding & Order:
{***} “{¶ } The Commission authorizes Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, LLC d/b/a CenterPoint Energy Ohio to file tariffs that incorporate the rate resulting from the auction to procure natural gas supply for standard choice offer customers.
{¶ 6} On January 21, 2025, in the above-captioned case, Staff filed a post-auction report (Staff Report) detailing the results of CEOH’s auction held on January 21, 2025, to establish the SCO rate for the period of April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. The Staff Report contains relevant information, such as the number and composition of tranches, and a round-by-round description of the auction. Based on its observations, Staff concludes that the auction was fair and devoid of any indications of collusion or other anomalies and was an accurate reflection of the natural gas market at the time of the auction, resulting in a retail price adjustment (RPA) of $2.20 per thousand cubic feet (Mcf).1 The Staff Report recommends that the Commission approve the auction results and authorize CEOH to revise its current SCO and default sales service (DSS)2 rates to incorporate the RPA of $2.20 per Mcf, beginning April 1, 2025.
{¶ 7} The Commission has reviewed the Staff Report and the auction results and agrees with Staff’s conclusion that the auction results are reasonable and should be approved. CEOH is authorized to implement its SCO and DSS rates based on the RPA of $2.20 per Mcf and to enter into the necessary arrangements with the winning bidders. The Company is further authorized to file the final tariffs necessary to implement the terms of this Finding and Order, as well as the relevant terms of the Commission’s April 30, 2008, Opinion and Order, as amended, in the Exemption Case.” {***}
