PURA Approves $2 Million Settlement Agreement Between EOE And Major Energy Electric Services
Under the settlement, Major Energy will pay $2 million in three installments to the electric distribution companies indicated as a donation to reduce hardship customer arrearages.

[ *** ] The Authority reviewed the Settlement Agreement and finds that the proposed resolution is appropriate. See General Statutes § 16-19jj. Consequently, the Authority approves the terms of the Settlement Agreement and adopts such terms as orders of the Authority. EOE is directed to immediately notify the Authority of any non-compliance, which may result in PURA issuing a notice of violation for the violations that are the subject of the Settlement Agreement.
With respect to the payments in Paragraph 2 of the Settlement Agreement, the Authority will, simultaneously with the issuance of this ruling, direct The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource Energy (Eversource) and The United Illuminating Company (UI, jointly EDCs) to apply the Company’s donation of $2,000,000,which the Company will pay to the EDCs in three installments, to financial hardship customers. Settlement Agreement, p. 3. The EDCs shall apply the payments to the accounts of Connecticut residential customers that (a) were designated financial hardship on or before April 30, 2024, (b) have never been designated medical hardship, and (c) have arrearages greater than 180 days, with a maximum of $1,000 applied per customer. Id. The EDCs shall apply the payments to the portion of the arrearages greater than 180 days, with a maximum of $1,000 applied per customer. Id. Within seven business days of applying all such payments, the EDCs shall make a compliance filing in Docket No. 14- 03-03, indicating the number of customer accounts to which funds were applied and the amount applied to each customer account. Id.
