PURA Files Notice Of Request For Comments In Application Of Eversource Energy To Amend Its Rate Schedules – AMI Cost Recovery

On January 3, 2024, the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (Authority) authorized The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource Energy (Eversource) and The United Illuminating Company (UI, collectively, with Eversource, the EDCs) to proceed or continue with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) deployment, subject to certain necessary steps to maximize AMI’s potential and value for ratepayers. Decision, Jan. 3, 2024, Docket No. 17-12-03RE02, PURA Investigation Into Distribution System Planning of the Electric Distribution Companies– Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI Decision). Contemporaneous with the issuance of the AMI Decision, the Authority initiated the instant docket to investigate, develop, and potentially authorize a cost recovery mechanism for Eversource to recover annually certain AMI expenditures.
To facilitate the investigation, development, and authorization of a cost recovery mechanism to support Eversource’s AMI Plan, the Authority requests that Parties and Intervenors submit written comments on or before Wednesday, March 6, 2024, by 4:00 p.m., on the annual cost recovery mechanism guidelines provided below, which build on the discussion provided in the AMI Decision and throughout Docket No. 17-12-03RE02.
