Resource Adequacy Policy Session #4 Held
The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) held a policy meeting on July 2, 2025, discussing how the country’s power system operators function and what they’re doing to ensure regional resource adequacy.
The session included presentation from seven Regional Transmission Organizations (RTO) and Independent System Operators (ISO) that power much of North America on their structures, operations, and how they interact with state public policy goals in their respective service territories.
As Illinois plans for projected short- and medium-term resource adequacy challenges, understanding the roll that RTOs/ISOs play in ensuring sufficient power supply and reliability is essential for modernizing the power grid.
RTO/ISO presentations will be followed by Commissioner questions.
