Excerpts from Public Utilities Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) Staff Recommendations:

{***} “Staff Recommendation:
Much has been learned over the past two and half years, and for successful ADER integration into ERCOT market processes, it is time for the pilot program to take its next step. Staff recommends that the pilot program and related discussions move to the ERCOT stakeholder process and seek to engage with a larger community of ERCOT market participants, beginning with a discussion at the Technical Advisory Committee about how best to move the project forward. The ADER pilot program has an engaged stakeholder community who will continue the growth that has been established during the Commission-led part of the pilot. The larger stakeholder community at ERCOT will allow for more rapid growth of the pilot, especially as ERCOT considers new types of loads that can participate as an ADER. Transitioning the pilot to the ERCOT stakeholder process will also facilitate pilot activities to be coordinated with other projects within the ERCOT market.

If the Commission supports this transition, Staff recommends that the ADER Task Force, that has been under the Commission’s purview since its inception, be dissolved.

Lastly, Staff recommends that ERCOT provide an update to the Commission every six months as long as the pilot continues. Staff is available to answer any questions you may have.
