DLC, AQUA, PAWC, PGW, and PECO filed letters indicating funding received from the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in calendar year 2023.
Note that the reporting requirement commenced in 2023 and expires on May 1, 2027.
As background, the Office of the Consumer Advocate (OCA) filed a petition for a proceeding focused on funding opportunities for utilities under the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Grants may be available for projects to:
- assist entities in carrying out efforts to harden the electricity grid, reduce risks of power lines causing wildfires, and reduce the likelihood and consequences of disruptive events, including those caused by weather or natural disaster;
- encourage innovative approaches to transmission, storage, and distribution infrastructure to improve resilience and reliability, and to encourage new approaches to enhance regional grid resilience;
- build new or replacement transmission lines or upgrades of existing lines;
- invest in technology to enhance grid flexibility; and
- enable small and rural electric utilities to deploy advanced cybersecurity technologies.
