Utilities Seek Extension To Filing Rate Mitigation Plans
New Jersey Electric Distribution Companies (EDCs) filed joint petition that request an extension of time to file rate mitigation plans (RMPs) and proposes that the included rate mechanisms be effective July 1, 2025 rather than June 1, 2025.
As previously reported on April 23, 2025 the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) issued order directing “EDCs to file petitions with the Board providing distribution that shall include, but not be limited to, proposals to defer those impacts, and shall include supporting calculations.”
RMPs were due May 5, 2025. No RMPs or BPU response to EDC’s request for extension of time have been made available as of this entry.
As background the BPU opened this docket to consider rate mitigation plans (RMPs) from the four large electric distribution companies (EDCs). The New Jersey BPU directed the EDCs to file proposed RMPs in light of the January 2025 BGS auction results, which are projected to result in average monthly customer bill increases of 17.23-20.20% beginning June 1, 2025.
