Utility Files Petition For Clarification Re: Innovative Energy Solutions Program
In Connecticut the utility Eversource filed a petition for clarification on PURA’s interim decision selecting six projects to be advanced in the next Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) program cycle. Specifically, Eversource asked, whether the pilot project with Kelvin Systems will be treated as a UI-only pilot, as recommended by Kelvin and the program administrator or “if PURA intended to have this pilot program expanded to also include Eversource’s service territory, what additional costs and corresponding metrics should be applied to Kelvin’s pilot program to enable this expansion beyond what was proposed and recommended in the record in this docket?”
As background, PURA initiated the Innovative Energy Solutions (IES) program to foster innovative pilot programs, technologies, products, to be deployed, investigated, and evaluated for overall impact, costs, and benefits, and brought to scale if ratepayer benefits are demonstrated. On an annual basis PURA will open a program cycle docket to evaluate “cohorts of electric sector innovations” through a phased approach.
