CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric filed with the Texas PUC to distribute $14.92 million in proceeds collected under TC5, which are transition charges owed to retail electric providers or REPs.

CenterPoint Houston will distribute the entirety of the TC5 collection balances to each REP based on the proportion of TC5 transition charges each REP remitted from August 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024 (the date the TC5 charge ended).

Individual amounts to be refunded to each REP was filed as confidential.

“CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (“CenterPoint Houston” or “Company”) makes this compliance filing pursuant to the Financing Order issued in Docket No. 39809 and in conformance with the Issuance Advice Letter of January 11 , 2012 (collectively , the ” TC5 Financing Order’), to refund the transition charge collection balances existing respectively under the TC5 Financing Order.”

“The Compliance Filing affects all retail electric providers (“REPs”) serving end-use retail electric customers in CenterPoint Houston’s certificated service territory and will affect the retail electric customers of those REPs to the extent that the REPs pass along to their customers the Schedule TC5 refunds described herein.”

“The Final Balance under the TC5 Financing Order is $14,921,211.54 (including interest or investment earnings).” 

“CenterPoint Houston will distribute the entirety of the TC5 collection balances to retail electric providers (REPs) through individual refunds to each of the REPs based on the TC5 transition charges each REP paid to CenterPoint Houston during the applicable 12-month period.3 Attachment A to this Application includes the calculation of the TC5 refund balances and how each refund balance is allocated to each REP based on the methodology prescribed by the Financing Order.”
